Greatly motivated by people like Benjamin Franklin and Nicola Tesla, Orel Ronald Moore has been the chief executive officer and operator of Super Grip Lock, LLC, a “one-man business” and innovator in home security since 1998. Prior to this venture, he had established himself in the field as the owner of Heirloom Gold Nugget Company and General Home Security Company between 1985 and 1998.
Mr. Moore began his professional career as a saw mill worker on strenuous jobs in the 1970s up until an on-site accident left him injured and in search of a different path. He shifted gears into trying to buy and sell trailer homes, during which he found that people had a great need for securing mobile properties and so he developed a security package to install deadbolts, window locks, and warning decals. Later, while staying at a motel with his wife, a housekeeper entered the room without warning, which prompted a personal mission to make doors far more secure than they were. Together with his wife, he developed a deadbolt accessory that become Super Grip Lock, which they officially patented in 2001—a career highlight.
The product has made it easy for families to protect against bump keys, lock picks, and pick guns, as well as stops anyone from unlocking the deadbolt with a key, such as landlords, managers, and past tenants. Since its inception, Super Grip Lock devices have also been utilized and endorsed by law enforcement, including the International Association of Police Chiefs and National Neighborhood Watch. In his role as CEO and owner, he handles everything, including its marketing and coordinating with his supplier in China to manufacture the product. As a testament to his success, he was recognized with a First Place Security Award for General Home Security Co. by Invention Convention Worldwide, saw Super Grip Lock placed among the “10 Most Marketable Products of the Year” by Electronic Retail Association, and has been featured in The National Locksmith Magazine and Police Chief Magazine.
Upon reflection of his outstanding career, Mr. Moore is proud of his collaboration with his wife of 45 years to make Super Grip Lock a reality. Within the next five years, he hopes to pass the business along to someone else as he is now 79 years old and wants to retire and travel with his wife. Together, they have four children and five grandchildren.
